New Zealand will be looking to get revenge on New Caledonia when the two sides meet each other in the World Cup qualifying group for the oceanic countries.
New Zealand will be hoping to seal a spot in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, while it was New Caledonia who actually denied them the opportunity to take part in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. New Zealand had already played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and will be looking to enjoy the experience once again when they attempt to seal the spot for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The New Zealand national team manager Richard Herbert, though, has said that it certainly will not be easy to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. If New Zealand do have any ambitions of reaching the same, then they should make use of the home matches to get the maximum points. They should also be extremely clinical in the away matches and look for any points possible from these difficult trips. It will be the only way New Zealand will be capable of playing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup that will be held in Brazil.
“There are no easy games in international football (and) we’ve proved that in recent years and also had a timely reminder of it in Honiara. We need to be ruthless at home and clinical away during this campaign if we are serious about reaching a consecutive World Cup. A winning start to the campaign is vital as we don’t want to open the door for anyone else to build momentum,” said the New Zealand manager Richard Herbert. He has also stressed the necessity to start the World Cup qualifying campaign in the best possible manner if they are to maintain the momentum throughout the campaign.
