New Zealand international Ryan Thomas has completed a summer move to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven. The All Whites midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract with the Eredivisie holders following five seasons with mid-table club PEC Zwolle, where he made 143appearances across all competitions.
With the move to Eindhoven, Thomas now has the opportunity to play regularly in Europe and he could ply his trade for the club in the Champions League, provided they manage to progress beyond the play-off stage. PSV have enjoyed the better success in terms of the Eredivisie over the past few years but they could have the advantage for the upcoming campaign once more unless Ajax have their say.
The Amsterdam outfit finished just four points behind PSV during the 2017/18 campaign but they have since managed to keep the core of the squad together barring Justin Kluivert, who made the switch to AS Roma. PSV have already begun their campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over Utrecht and they should now fancy maintaining the pressure at the top with a relatively easier schedule before the international break.Prior to the break, however, PSV are pitted to play BATE Borisov across two legs in the Champions League play-off and it will be interesting to see whether they can reach the proper for the third time in four seasons.
